Women Supporting Women: A Powerful Gathering in Charleston with Pedal Kidswear
Charleston, SC set the stage for one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had as a founder of a boys clothing brand, Pedal Kidswear. On April 24th, we hosted a special “Chat, Shop & Give” event that brought together 30 incredible women — and the day before, we kicked it all off with a chaotic, joy-filled photo shoot that I’ll never forget.
From start to finish, this was more than just an event — it was a celebration of female entrepreneurship, community, and the power of women lifting each other up.
A Photo Shoot Full of Heart (and Water)
On April 23rd, before the event officially began, we held a photo shoot to showcase our latest boys clothing collection— and let’s just say it was an adventure.
We worked with the incredibly talented @hallerysgallery, who fearlessly captured six boys wearing pieces from our new swimwear line — even if it meant getting in (and under) the water. At one point, she was literally in the water, camera in hand, and left with bloody knees from all the action. It was chaotic, hilarious, and so worth it. The images are pure magic and truly capture the spirit of Pedal Kidswear: playful, stylish, and built for real life.
Coffee, Community & Conversations
The following day, April 24th, we gathered at the beautiful Charleston home of @nehbelt, organized masterfully by the amazing team at Filora.
We welcomed 30 powerhouse women to connect, chat, and sip delicious coffee drinks — thanks to our event sponsor, Daysie, whose syrups were a hit. We talked about everything from advertising and family business to navigating the realities of being a female entrepreneur.
The energy was genuine, open, and inspiring. These women showed up fully — not just to support me, but to support each other. And that’s what made the day unforgettable.
Giving Back, Together
Every attendee’s ticket was donated to Empower, a nonprofit that supports children who have lost a parent. Co-founded by the amazing @annmarieleitao, Empower’s mission deeply resonates with me, and it was an honor to spotlight their important work.
Out of My Comfort Zone, and So Grateful for It
Truthfully, this experience pushed me way out of my comfort zone. I’m used to being behind the scenes — working on fabric details, fit, and function. But stepping forward to host this event, share my story, and build community face-to-face reminded me how powerful it is to connect as people — not just as brands.
From the boys clothing photo shoot to the Charleston event itself, every part of this experience was driven by women. Women creating, organizing, styling, photographing, hosting, sharing. Women supporting women in the truest sense.
And I’m so proud of what we created together.
If you missed it, don’t worry — we’re just getting started. Follow along on Instagram and check out our newest collection to see more of what we’re building here at Pedal Kidswear.
💛 With so much gratitude,
